Orthotics available in Haddonfield and Cherry Hill, NJ
Have you ever had foot pain or discomfort and wondered if an orthotic was right for you? Many people simply cannot do without them, whether they go running or are on their feet for long periods of time. Is there something to orthotics? Can they really help?
Custom-molded orthotics are shoe devices that help realign the biomechanics of your feet. This realignment, in turn, will help alleviate pressure points in your feet as the weight is redistributed more evenly. Orthotics also help to realign your ankles, knees, hips, and back. They can help you walk, stand, and run without pain.
At Camden County Foot and Ankle Associates, we offer custom-molded orthotics. These orthotics are not the same as generic over-the-counter inserts that you find at a store. Such generic devices often hurt your arch because they are not molded to your foot, but rather, to the average foot over a range of shoe sizes. Our orthotics are custom designed and cast to your foot. They fit the exact size, shape, and pathology of your foot and your needs.
Types of Orthotics
Our Haddonfield & Cherry Hill, NJ podiatrist offers three different kinds of orthotics, so you can choose the type that best meets your needs.
There are orthotics for dress shoes, ballet flats, sneakers, boots, men’s dress shoes—you name it. We make sure that our material will fit into your shoes, in contrast to the orthotics of years past that were bulky and designed for sneakers. Aside from the materials used, you can select different durometers for your orthotics to make them rigid, semi-rigid, or soft. The durometer you choose will depend on the intended use of the orthotic, your age, and any comorbidities you may have.
Regardless of the type of orthotic you choose, the goal is the same:
orthotics decrease the pain in your feet, thighs, legs, and lower back caused by standing or walking. They absorb shock and take pressure off your feet.
To fit you with one of these orthotics, our podiatrist takes a fiberglass cast of your feet. The cast creates a replica of your foot that we then send to a lab with specific instructions regarding your needs.
